Benton County Wineries choose new board Comments

A message from Nathan Warren of Harris Bridge Vineyard, who has taken the lead with the Benton County Wineries Association coordination thus far:

Last Wednesday night at the BCWA annual meeting we elected our first five-member Board and it includes some of our local industry’s most capable and prominent individuals. This group will be leading our efforts as we continue to establish and promote our region’s wine industry. I’d like to introduce you to the crew.

Chair and President – Norm Galvin, Spindrift Cellars
Vice Chair – Tom Johns, Emerson Winery
Board Position #3 – Dai Crisp, Lumos Wine Company
Board Position #4 – Charlie Gilson, Pheasant Court Winery
Board Position #5 – Steve Girard, Benton Lane Winery
Treasurer – Matt Compton, Spindrift Cellars

As you may know, we have been working toward this moment for more than four years. Our efforts began as informal gatherings to discuss our common purpose, which matured into a formal entity with collaborative projects and events, and now has culminated in a Board run organization with multi-layered and cross-industy marketing efforts designed to raise national and international awareness of the incredible wine and food growing region that we all live and work in.

I believe that under Norm’s leadership these next few years are going to bring significant growth to our organization, both in terms of awareness of the region, and in terms of our membership list which includes our Associate Members. I strongly encourage you to increase your level of involvement with our organization over these next few years. These are the years where foundational relationships will be formed, and it is this time when the kind of economic development that wineries can offer our community is most important.
