Alex Hargreaves named Grand Master Fiddle Champion for 2009; OSU music instructor wins Artist of the Year at NAMMYs

Last night, “The President’s Own” United State Marine Band earned two standing ovations from a packed audience at LaSells Stewart Center.

OSU Summer Term noon has been presenting a FREE Wednesday noon-hour concert series since 1989. In the early days the series was local folk music groups, but this year it will have a somewhat broader range of music. The 2009 concerts will run from June 24 to August 12 and take place on the brick courtyard near the OSU Bookstore or if it rains, in the OSU Memorial Union Lounge.

OSU hosted its annual powwow Saturday and Sunday May 16-17 at McAlexander Fieldhouse.

The event is a gathering for tribes from all over Oregon and the West that come to share dancing and socializing, sell crafts and frybread. Veterans and elders are always honored and prayers are said for the upcoming generations.
